Talking therapy can help you manage and cope with difficult life events, relationship problems, upsetting or traumatic experiences, difficult emotions and other mental health challenges.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In our first session we will look at what brings you to therapy, check that we are a good fit for working together, and discuss any worries or concerns you have about therapy. We can then clarify your goals, or look at what you would like to change, so we can agree a plan on the next steps.

The therapeutic approach recommended will be tailored to your goals and focus. The number of sessions or length of therapy will depend on what you are wanting to achieve.

Models

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy focuses on processing and moving past your current or past traumatic experiences. It tends to work faster and involves less homework than other therapies. EMDR therapy sessions focus on a specific memory and are intended to change the way the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing problematic symptoms.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, explores the interaction of our current thoughts, feelings, body sensations and behavior. CBT looks at how your negative thoughts and feeling can trap you in a negative cycle. CBT focuses on your current problems rather than on issues from your past. It can be used to treat a range of psychological issues including anxiety, and depression.

SFBT

Solution-Focused Therapy takes a strengths-based, future focused approach. It develops clients' natural resources and successful experiences as a platform to help bring about change. The goal is to develop solutions as opposed to dwelling on problems. The preferred future directs the therapy process and helps treatment remain focused.

DBT

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is an evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy for more severe and complex mental health disorders (including suicidal behaviours, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, substance dependence, depression, and anxiety-related issues), using a skills-based approach.

Therapy is available in-person and online via Zoom (subject to complexity)

Cancellation

Sessions cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time will be charged the full fee
